Ned is an entrepreneur and executive for a sports entertainment company, where he has expanded the company into several new international markets and territories. Raised in Stoney Creek, Ned was a dedicated athlete in his youth — earning a silver medal in discus for Ontario at the Canada Games. Today, he is a dedicated husband and father living in Stoney Creek with his wife Lisa and their three children.
Ned’s story actually begins much earlier in the former Yugoslavia. His parents, Illija and Ivanka made the decision to flee the country in hopes of providing their family with a fighting chance and an opportunity to reach their full potential – through the rights and freedoms promised to all Canadian citizens.
The Kuruc family, like thousands of other immigrants, first settled in Hamilton’s industrial corridor, making a living in Hamilton’s trades and manufacturing industries. When Ned was just one year old, his family moved to Stoney Creek.
While attending Memorial Public School and Orchard Park Secondary, Ned was a stand-out athlete, playing volleyball, rugby, basketball and track & field. The discipline, dedication and pride of representing his community through sports inspired Ned to pursue a career with similar attributes, attending Sheridan College’s Police Foundations Program. However, the opportunity to build in his own community, the place where he grew up, changed his career path.
In the early 2000s, Ned set out to revive the Attic Pizzeria, a Stoney Creek institution. This was followed by the area’s first tattoo parlor and Iron Tiger Muay Thai Gym. Ned would take his entrepreneurial expertise and open up Che Burrito in Hamilton’s downtown core — where it would became a pioneer on the front lines of Hamilton’s urban renaissance and a cultural downtown icon.
Back in Stoney Creek, Ned expanded his business pursuits to real estate and mortgage consultation, the cannabis industry and gorwing ATM Ontario from modest beginnings.
Over the years, Ned has employed hundreds of Hamiltonians in a variety of business ventures. This is the insight and job creation experience Ned will bring to Ottawa as our Member of Parliament for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek.
